Behind The Scenes: Jolene In The Park

Hey y'all, QD here. This shoot was supposed to happen a few weeks ago but Jolene, our lovely model was super busy. So when shoot day came I was inspired by blue tones, Strelitzia, ocean vibes and blue skies. Which is why the collage is full of luscious blue. Although we found very little blue in the park (not even blue sky!), the shoot was still super fun and amazing.

Jo sent me a list of the clothes she wanted to wear and I searched the outfits on Pinterest. Visit her style shoot board: here.

Jolene told me about T-rex arms and it turns out that she's a pro at them. Look it up on Google if you don't know. Keep an eye out for her upcoming shoot pics.

Style Collage May 2016: International Flavour

It's an international theme this month because we just want to travel, travel, travel!

Style Collage April 2016: Sleek Boss

Queen Bee wants us ladies to get in formation. Kate Moss. Alexa Chung "IT". Black strappy heels / similar. Black bag / similar. Black blazer / similar. Black pencil skirt / similar & ribbed.

Be a sleek boss lady and stylein an all black ensemble - blazer, nightie, skirt, crop, bags etc... get serious and dress like a boss.

Behind The Scenes: EDGY Shoot

We teamed up again with Dani Malkin and she found us two new models Tayla and Tova to be part of the EDGY shoot. Here are the collages and mood boards we came up with.

We always have more fun shooting the same model second time around and that's what happened with Dani. She actually styled the shoot and created this chic & sleek pinboard: DTT EDGY SHOOT. When the photographers and models come together and both have a strong idea of the look and feel of the shoot, so much can happen. It's like we all learned a new language and were testing out words that turned into sentences and then full on paragraphs.

Shoot Preparation: Dani & Kathryn

Before every shoot we like to plan everything. We decide on a look and feel beforehand and the best thing to do is send our models a mood board/collage so that we can all be on a similar page.

We shot Dani and Kathryn this week. These are the style compositions we came up with.

Mia was inspired by Nirrimi's photography especially the more ethereal artworks. Playing with light and DIY filters is Mia's thing and I can't wait to share those photographs in the coming weeks.

I know Dani from Uni and she is huge on Pinterest -- check her boards out here: pinterest.com/danzmalkin/. I have been following her for a few years on Pinterest, so I actually used some of her pins in the collages because it felt like a reflection of her style.

The best part about styling a shoot is that you never know what it is going to look like when you're done. Dani introduced us to Kathryn and we trusted the two of them to style the shoot. We are loving the photographs!

Style Collage March 2016: Hot Pink Coat

Style Jam is taking off -- and we are shooting every weekend all over Johannesburg. One of our favourite ways to find inspiration is to create mood boards or style collages and so we will be sharing them here! These collages are from old fashion magazines we cut up, but we love the styling so much and we will try to find similar items. Enjoy!
